Billy
Hello, my name is Billy Haubrich and I've been working at Dimond Hill Farm for the past eight years. You've most likely seen me at the farm as I mainly work the stand selling the produce and products that we have to offer. When I first started, the farm was a much smaller business than it is today. Over the years I have seen this farm grow tremendously. From red tomatoes to yellow tomatoes, cash boxes to cash registers, and cucumbers to pickles, the farm has become a serious business.
I currently attend the University of Connecticut where I will be a junior this upcoming academic year. At the University I'm a double major studying communications and sport promotions and the media. My ultimate goal is to become involved in the field of broadcasting and eventually become a sport's anchor. Down at UConn, I'm a sport's announcer in which I announce numerous sports including volleyball, hockey, and baseball. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, inner-tube water polo, and watching Survivor.
Before working at Dimond Hill Farm, I had very little experience with the farmer's lifestyle. Acquiring the “city lifestyle” as a young kid, I was surprised to see how different a farmer's life can be. Early mornings, longs days, hard work seemed crazy to me. Throughout the years, Jane Presby has been able to teach me different aspects of the field of farming, and has ultimately changed me into a farmer at heart. I now impress my peers at school with farmer's lingo, and nifty overalls.
To me, the farm represents everything that's good about summer. Whether it's the taste of our fresh vegetables, the smell of newly cut hay, or the beautiful sight of the city of Concord, Dimond Hill Farm has it all. I'm extremely thankful to be working at this farm for the past eight years, and am proud to say I'm a farmer at Dimond Hill Farm
